At the Shed, you’re not just working with wood you’re rebuilding something inside yourself too.

There’s something we don’t talk about enough.

Suicide.

It’s touched too many lives – ours included.
We’ve lost friends, family, colleagues. Some as young as 18, others in their 80s.
And so often, no one saw it coming.

Men often carry silent battles.
They smile, they laugh — and we don’t realise what’s going on underneath.
They don’t always feel they can talk to their partner or family.
So they keep it in.
Until it’s too late.

We need to talk about it.
And here, we do.

We sit together over tea and coffee.
We talk about life, aging, loneliness, dementia, depression, money worries, or just a bad week.
We laugh. We listen.
And little by little, we chip away at the silence that isolates so many of us.

Coming to the Shed gives people a reason to get out of bed.
It gives purpose. It reminds us we’re still needed, still seen, still important.

It doesn’t fix everything.
But it helps.
And sometimes, that’s enough to save a life.

We’ve even going to get specialist too come in to run sessions on mental wellbeing helping us learn to talk more kindly to ourselves, notice when we’re struggling, and know when to ask for help.

Every conversation matters.
Every laugh matters.
Every project matters.

In this Shed, there is no shame in struggling.
Only strength in speaking.
