Steelers’ Healers – Help Us Keep the Shed Doors Open

A Community Workshop Supporting Men’s Mental Health and Wellbeing

We’re Steelers’ Healers — a new Men in Sheds project aiming to bring people together through tools, tea, and a bit of banter.
But we need your help to keep going.

What’s It All About?

We’ve created a safe, welcoming space for men — especially those who are retired, isolated, or going through a rough patch — to meet up, make things with their hands, learn new skills, and connect with others.
It’s not just about woodwork.
It’s about purpose, belonging, and getting out the house for something that actually feels good.
We run woodworking sessions, repairs, small community projects, and most importantly — we talk. Or sit in comfortable silence. And that’s enough.
This is early-stage community wellbeing in action — no waiting lists, no formality, just people helping people.

But Here’s the Problem…

We’ve faced a mountain of red tape and a serious lack of funding.
So far we’ve relied on volunteer time, borrowed gear, and the sheer stubbornness of people who believe this matters.
But the truth is, it’s hard to keep the shed open without basic support.
We’ve done all the hard work:
  • Health & safety sorted
  • DBS and safeguarding in place
  • Workshop up and running
  • People turning up every week
Now we need your help to grow it.

How Your Donation Helps

Your support will go towards:
• Rent for a permanent, accessible shed space
• Tools and workshop equipment
• Tea, coffee, and basic kitchen supplies
• Volunteer expenses and materials for projects
• Outreach to help more isolated people find us
Even a small donation helps — honestly. Every fiver makes a difference when you’re working at grassroots.

Why It Matters

Too many men are falling through the cracks — lonely, depressed, or just lost after retirement or personal setbacks.
We’ve seen the change in people already. They show up quiet… and leave smiling.
“I didn’t think anyone would care if I came. Now I don’t want to miss a session.”
This project is more than a shed.
It’s a lifeline.
And you can help keep it alive.

Donate What You Can

Please chuck in what you can — or share this with someone who might.
Together, we can turn 5% impact into 95%.
  • Let’s keep the shed doors open.
  • Let’s keep the kettle boiling.
  • Let’s give people somewhere to belong.
